            The revised Roman Missal, Third Edition, will be implemented in all of the churches in the United States on the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011. This website has been prepared for Cathedral Chapel Parishioners to serve as a reliable source of news and information.

            AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

            Dear Parishioners & Friends,

            To Deepen, to Nurture, and to Celebrate the Holy Eucharist is our goal as Catholics.  Our Catholic Church in the United States are using these three words (deepen, nurture, and celebrate) to guide us during the implementation of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal.

            In every edition whether it is a book or a remake of a movie, there will be changes that are unique; however the theme and ritual remain the same:  “New Words, Same Mass.”  Do not be afraid but be open and embrace the uniqueness of the Third Edition.

            Many of us come to mass on Sunday listening to the Word of God, saying the responses, and observing the postures of standing, sitting or kneeling; yet we do not understand or appreciate the ritual.  At times we do not feel nurtured spiritually.
             As pastor of CCSV, I invite all of you both young and old to take this opportunity to enlighten your mind and your spirit to a deeper understanding of the Mass.  The celebration of the Mass is the source and summit of our Catholic faith.

            Our parish Pastoral Liturgy Council have been learning about the Third Edition and preparing us for implementing.  Our goal during the implementation is two-fold: (a) Engage you to learn and nurture our Catholic faith and tradition as a parish community;
            (b) Assist you to celebrate and actively participate in the Eucharistic celebration.

            The Pastoral Liturgy Council, the parish staff and I are hoping to accomplish these two objectives during the coming weeks and months through the following media: (1)  We will provide you with various reading materials in the bulletin; (2)  We will inform you during mass; (3)  We will use our parish website to remind you, your family and friends of the coming changes in the Third Edition.

            Our parish website is unique because we link different Catholic websites and consolidate different resource media for you: reading materials, mp3 for liturgical music, and video training.
            Our parish also includes reflections from members of our pastoral liturgy council and timeline specifically to our parish implementation of the Third Edition.  Please feel free to print the resources; email to your family and friends; forward the parish link to your web-based friends.

            Our hope is to engage you, especially our youth and young adults, to deepen, nurture and celebrate the Mass in a vibrant and energetic spirit as One Body of Christ, the Church.  Let us, as a parish renew our commitment and appreciate the Holy Eucharist as the Source and Summit of our Catholic faith.

            In Christ We Serve,
            Fr. Truc Nguyen, Pastor
